Busy Days

I’ve been keeping very busy with some projects for DC and RDS recently. I pretty much live in my office these days so there’s not much else to report. I did get a new MacBook and it’s pretty great.

I finished up this series of wheels for new wheel Vancouver company Push a while ago and they should be in shops this week. They’ve already got Stacy Gabriel and Chad Dickson on the team so they’re off to a good start.

blast from the past

I just stumbled across this link and had to post it - an archive of old California Cheapskates catalogs from the 90s! As a group of skate kids growing up me and my friends didn’t have the internet and lived in a small town far from the nearest skate shop so the old California Cheapskates catalogs were our only link to what was going on product wise. For a kid like me who was art and skating obsessed the day a new Cheapskates catalog would arrive in the mail was like Christmas morning. Thanks to Rotten Apple Media for all the hard work putting these up.

Tokyo Photos coming soon…

I’ve spent the last 2 weeks in Tokyo and am working on getting all the photos from the trip online. Until I fight off the jet lag and get this done I thought I’d show a couple random snaps from my little camera. There’s allot more on the way so check back in the next couple of days here.

Shooting to thrill

A bunch of us got together today to help Benny, Dave and the crew at Don’t Sleep Productions film some scenes for their upcoming short film in the Red Bull “Shoot to Thrill” contest. They had a heap of extras and an all-star cast.

Bob K was there and while we were waiting for our close ups he schooled me in an epic game of tic-tac-toe - apparently the key to a successful game is to secure the corners. He then proceeded to 360 flip on this board both regular and fakie. I knew this guy was talented but his skills are far broader then I had imagined.

Paul is one of the lead characters in the film and I couldn’t beleive he still had this vintage Famous tee from a few years ago. This is a rare one and apparently one of his favs.

There were even pretty girls there - always a wonderful bonus.

Someone was throwing down some great street art.

The directors hat was awesome.

Benny and Dave were making movie magic. I don’t want to give anything away but it’s going to be amazing/hilarious.

The starting line just before the downhill race scene.
Then the ice cream man ripped me off! Nothing like the picture. It was delicious though.

Magnus was blasting some serious early grabs off this beast.

Check out Don’t Sleeps new website here and look for photos from the contest in the future issue of Color.
